About

The Conference Centre concept was inspired by commonalities through the traditional buildings, art and craft. The large curved pod-type roof beams are derived from the tapestry of these architectonic elements. There are 26 beams equally representing each member country. The truncated roof at 18 degrees allows for the installation of purpose-designed solar panels to run at least 40% of the lighting at the conference. The Programme Buildings are a maximum of three storeys with exposed curved “sail” like glue-laminated trusses. The walls are a combination of glazing and concrete plaster on the ground floor. The floors a concrete with a large warm tile finish. All walkways are concrete exposed aggregate broken in places with pattern motifs.
